What is GastroStone made from?
GastroStone pizza stones are made from Cordierite, a mineral known for its excellent thermal shock resistance and durability. Cordierite is commonly used to bake crispy, evenly cooked pizzas and other baked items.
Why should I choose a GastroStone pizza stone?
GastroStone pizza stones have been made specifically to fit into your commercial 1/1 Gastronorm combi or conventional oven. Made from cordierite, GastroStones can withstand high temperatures up to 800 degrees celsius, without cracking and are more durable than ceramic stone.
How do I use my GastroStone?
- Place in a cold oven and pre-heat to desired temperature (ideally 230 - 260°C)
- Allow 20 - 30 minutes for even heating
- place pizza on hot stone using a pizza peel
- bake until golden brown and crispy
Can I wash my GastroStone?
Washing the stone is not recommended or required. Never put your GastroStone in a dishwasher.
How do I clean my GastroStone?
- Simply scrape off any food residue with a scraper and brush.
- Bake off stubborn stains at a high temperature, if required.
- Once cool, wipe down with a damp cloth, do NOT use soap or detergent as the stone will absorb it.
Do I need to season my GastroStone?
No, seasoning is not necessary.
Can I cut directly on my GastroStone?
No, please don't cut on your GastroStone as the knife can damage the surface and the stone may damage your knife/cutter.
Will GastroStone change colour over time?
Yes, it will darken with use, which is completely normal and does not affect performance.
Can I use my GastroStone for foods other than pizza?
Yes, you can bake all kinds of bread, flat breads, calzones and even cookies.
Does my GastroStone come with warranty?
GastroStone and accessories come with a 12 month warranty to guard against manufacturing defects. contact us if you have any warranty concerns.
